Podcast recording

A calm podcast table in Oud-West, one dynamic microphone per seat, and an engineer who watches levels and pacing while you stay focused on the conversation.

Four guests talk at a podcast table with microphones in a bright studio.

A home setup with four different mics rarely sounds like one programme. In our podcast room guests sit close at a fixed table, with a shared headphone mix and treatment that tames chair noise and table taps without killing the room tone. That is the foundation whether you run a weekly show, a branded series or a one-off recorded panel.

Podcast recording always includes an engineer for the booked time, a basic edit (trimming long silences, clean in and out points) and export of raw tracks plus a stereo reference mix. You do not need to bring a mixer: we use fixed routing and label every voice so you can cut later or hand files to an external editor. For microphone choices, see our guide to podcast microphones.

Process

  1. Brief

Send format, guest count and target length. Within 2 business days you receive a quote and slot. Series often use recurring blocks on the calendar.

  2. Setup

Fifteen to twenty minutes before rolling: mic height, pop filters, headphones and a short level check per voice. Water and note space are ready at the table.

  3. Record

We capture each voice plus a stereo overview. The engineer flags retakes and watches overlap. Breaks are normal; one studio hour is rarely sixty minutes of speech.

  4. Delivery

After the session comes basic editing and a download link. Natickpixelhub B.V. keeps files for 18 months; store your own backup locally.

Who this room is for

Independent creators, editorial teams, marketing departments and schools that want a podcast recorded without building a mobile rig. The table suits two to 4 people at once; larger panels need planning, sometimes with rotating guests per block.

You do not need broadcast experience. We explain how to stay on the grille, avoid talking over each other and where to place scripts. Minimum age for participants is 16; younger guests only with prior consent from a parent or guardian.

How a recording day runs

Book through contact or email [email protected]. At Kinkerstraat 312 in Amsterdam we welcome you Mon–Fri 9:30–18:30, Sat 12–16 (by appointment); Saturday by appointment only. The studio is on Kinkerstraat in Oud-West, within walking distance of Erasmuspark. Trams 7 and 17 serve the Kinkerstraat stop; from there it is about a three-minute walk. You can use the bike racks along Kinkerstraat. Allow an extra fifteen minutes on a first visit so everyone can settle.

After the sound check recording starts. The engineer sits in the control room, not at the table, so you keep eye contact with guests. Between takes they log timestamps for later edits. Need another pass? Fine, as long as time remains in your booking.

What to prepare

Bring a question list or outline, including intro and outro copy. Send rough notes at least a day ahead if you want us to skim them. Avoid noisy jewellery or rustling coats when you sit close to the capsule.

  • Outline or script (digital or print)
  • Reference for desired tone (not too harsh, not too dull)
  • Logo or jingle as a file, not played from a phone speaker at the table
  • Your own headphones are welcome if the connector fits

Parts of our recording day checklist apply to podcasters too, especially travel time and voice rest.

Sound and microphones

We use dynamic microphones on boom arms per seat, suited to close conversational seating. The engineer sets gain so quiet and loud speakers fit one episode without constant riding. Light gating only when necessary; placement beats heavy repair.

Want to compare two setups? The microphone guide explains when another capsule makes sense. In the room we decide together without slowing your format.

Delivery, formats and turnaround

Default delivery is 24-bit WAV per stem plus a stereo mixdown for listening. File names include episode and speaker role. We do not master MP3s for publishing by default; your host or a mixing step can handle broadcast loudness if needed.

Basic edit means trimming long silences and clean start/end points, not narrative restructuring. Full episode assembly with music and ad slots is outside Podcast recording and quoted separately. Files arrive via secure link within a few business days unless we agree otherwise.

Not included: transcription, translation, Spotify or Apple hosting, commercial music licensing, travel for location work outside Amsterdam, and extra studio days for heavy editing. Commercial voice-over for trailers in the same visit falls under voice-over as its own service.

Team and contact

Podcast sessions are often led by Noor Vermeer (vocal producer and podcast engineer) or by Thijs Bakker as lead engineer. Jasper Meijer supports when episodes move straight into mixing or mastering for a consistent release.

FAQ

How much studio time should I book for one episode?

Plan 75 to 90 minutes of studio for roughly 45 minutes of content, including setup and short breaks. The episode rate covers up to 60 minutes raw; if you expect more, add hours or split across two sessions.

Can we dial in a remote guest?

Yes, via a separate line we record into the mix. Quality depends on the guest connection; for core interviews we still recommend being in Amsterdam in person.

Do you publish the RSS feed?

No. We deliver audio files; hosting, show notes and RSS stay on your platform. We can check loudness if you follow streaming loudness targets.

How does the ten-episode bundle work?

It suits teams that can plan ahead. Dates align with Monday–Friday 09:30–18:30, Saturday 12:00–16:00 (by appointment only). Closed on Sunday.; unused credits are not lost casually, but rescheduling rules are in terms.

Can I bring non-speaking visitors?

One or two listeners in the lounge are usually fine. Larger audiences hurt focus and acoustics; ask via contact first.
