Booth and acoustics
Our vocal booth is about 10 m², separate from the 24 m² live room. Instruments and vocals stay isolated, so bleed and room tone stay low. The booth is tuned for a dry, predictable signal rather than ambience you would need to remove later.
Glass to the control room keeps eye contact during takes — useful for rap and theatrical delivery where breath and timing matter. The studio has 4 rooms in total; vocal work uses booth plus control room without sharing space with unrelated sessions.
Microphone and signal path
We begin with a short shoot-out: usually a condenser for detail, sometimes a dynamic for louder rap or close spoken word. Distance, height and pop filter are set together; small moves change sibilance and low end noticeably.
Audio runs through our 32-channel infrastructure into the DAW. Levels stay conservative with headroom for later mixing. If you need a specific sample rate, say so when booking — default is 24-bit / 48 kHz unless your project specifies otherwise.
Who runs the session
Vocal producer Noor Vermeer or studio director Thijs Bakker leads most vocal dates. They comment on pitch, articulation and performance when you want it, not on marketing slogans. Say if you prefer technical support only and minimal talkback.
For larger projects Jasper Meijer can join to prep stems for an external mixer. See about us for roles; we reply to availability questions within 2 business days.
Preparation
Bring: backing track without guide vocal (WAV or stems), lyrics, reference tracks for vocal tone, and your own headphones if you rely on them. Skip very cold drinks right before the session; a calm warm-up at home beats cramming in the booth.
Our guide recording day checklist covers file names, export settings and arrival at Oud-West. The studio is on Kinkerstraat in Oud-West, within walking distance of Erasmuspark. Trams 7 and 17 serve the Kinkerstraat stop; from there it is about a three-minute walk. You can use the bike racks along Kinkerstraat. Allow travel time — late arrival still uses booked hours.
Rates and booking
A studio hour is €98 incl. 21% VAT (net €80.99). A four-hour half day is €355; an eight-hour full day €645. Blocks cost less per hour than single hours — useful for EPs or several songs in one visit.
| Option | Incl. VAT | Excl. VAT |
|---|---|---|
| Per hour | €98 | €80.99 |
| Half day (4 h) | €355 | €293.39 |
| Full day (8 h) | €645 | €533.06 |
Booking requires a 35% deposit on the quoted total. Free cancellation up to 5 days before the session; see terms and conditions. Business clients: payment within 21 days of invoice.
Delivery and archive
After the session you receive named WAV stems (lead, doubles, ad-libs) and optionally a rough bounce for home listening. We deliver via secure download or your SSD — no forced third-party cloud.
Natickpixelhub B.V. keeps session backups for 18 months after the last activity, then deletes unless you extend storage. Download and keep your own copies too. For mix or master, send the same stems to mixing or mastering.
Not included
Mixing, tuning as a separate production task, arrangement, hiring musicians, video and heavy editing beyond the booked time are outside standard vocal recording. Extra comping of long raw takes is billed hourly or by agreement.
Commercial voice-over for ads or e-learning belongs under voice-over; conversational shows under podcast recording. Pick the service that matches the room and engineer you need.
