Voice-over

A dry, controlled booth of about 10 m², script on the stand, and an engineer who watches pacing and consonants while you keep the message steady.

Voice-over artist stands in a booth while engineer signals through glass.

Voice-over for explainers, e-learning or internal updates needs consistency: same distance to the capsule, same energy in sentence three as in thirty, and no corridor bleed. Recording at home in an untreated room often yields uneven plosives and reflections that eat editing time. In our booth you hear what the camera or LMS will receive later.

Voice-over targets neutral, clear in-booth reads rather than character acting or singing. You work standing or seated with a large-diaphragm microphone, pop filter and a dry headphone mix unless you briefly want light reverb to feel timing. Delivery is per session or via the bundle up to fifteen minutes of final audio; heavy editing and music sit outside this service.

Process

  1. Script

Send copy, pronunciation notes and timing targets. For multilingual jobs we tag versions per take. Within 2 business days we confirm slot and rate.

  2. Position

Short warm-up, mic height and distance, headphone mix with enough self-level. We check plosives and sibilance before the clock runs in earnest.

  3. Takes

By paragraph or page, with room for pick-ups. The engineer flags best versions and keeps a log for your editor or ours.

  4. Export

WAV 24-bit/48 kHz by default, per take or consolidated by chapter. Bundle clients receive one coherent timeline up to the agreed length.

Typical use cases

Product films, HR onboarding, technician instructions, app walkthroughs and museum audio: anywhere the voice carries information without theatre. We do not target multi-hour audiobooks or animation dubbing; those need different schedules and pricing. Some teams combine voice-over with podcast recording when interviews and VO land the same day — book two separate reservations.

Minimum age in the booth is 16. Companies with a rotating internal voice keep mic position and gain fixed so editing does not change per speaker.

Booth and session flow

The voice-over booth is one of 4 rooms at Kinkerstraat 312. Roughly 10 m², isolated from the live room, with glass to the control room. Thijs Bakker or Jasper Meijer usually runs the session; Noor Vermeer joins when articulation coaching helps.

You read from paper or tablet; we place screens to limit fan noise and reflections. The engineer gives visual cues for pace and pauses. Want feedback on intonation? Say so upfront — we stick to factual tips, not rewriting marketing copy.

Preparing copy and timing

Send final copy or a version with at most 5% wiggle room. Mark numbers, abbreviations and brand names with non-default pronunciation. State whether you prefer Dutch or English pronunciation for loanwords.

  • Target total length (e.g. 90 seconds per module)
  • File naming convention for export
  • Whether you cut per sentence or paragraph
  • Reference audio as style hint only, not to mimic

The recording day checklist helps voice talent too, especially hydration, travel and voice rest.

Neutrality, takes and revisions

Neutral here means no pushed sales tone unless you ask for it. We capture full passes and short pick-ups on missed words. Technical revisions after delivery allow 2 rounds within reasonable scope — re-reading a misstated number, not rewriting a chapter for free.

Character voices, singing or rap belong in vocal recording in the vocal booth. For broadcast loudness on TV or streaming, follow with mastering or read streaming loudness targets.

Files, naming and turnaround

Default export: WAV 24-bit, 48 kHz, mono or stereo depending on your edit. We can deliver 44.1 kHz on request. No proprietary session files unless agreed; you usually receive labelled WAVs via download link.

Day sessions deliver same day or next business morning unless you book a large bundle the same week. Natickpixelhub B.V. archives sessions for 18 months, then deletes copies unless law requires otherwise. Keep your own backup on company storage.

FAQ

How much copy fits the fifteen-minute bundle?

Rule of thumb: about 2200 to 2500 English words at normal pace, including short pauses. Dense technical copy or multiple languages may need more studio time; we estimate that in the brief.

Do I bring talent or read myself?

Either works. Many companies send a regular employee; agencies sometimes book external talent. We do not cast voices, but we keep recording consistent.

Will you edit the script?

We flag awkward sentences or unclear abbreviations, but editorial stays yours. Content changes after export fall outside free revision rounds.

Is music or sound design included?

No. We deliver dry voice tracks. Music, sfx and final mix are yours or via mixing.

What if I am ill on the session day?

Tell us as early as possible. Cancellation within 5 days is free; after that, terms govern rescheduling and deposit handling.
